Changes compare the same calendar month, so seasonal swings cancel out. “Since start” runs from the first month BLS published for that item.
Two items stop before Sep 2026 because BLS has not published newer months for them; their dates are shown in the price column. BLS published no prices for October 2025 for most foods, because of the 2025 lapse in federal appropriations.
Discontinued items, such as Red Delicious apples (last priced Oct 2017), are left out.
